An aspect of ethnomedicine which is
sorely neglected is the terminology of disease itself. Obviously concepts of
disease in Africa only partly map against
those in the Western world. It seems to difficult ot know how effective diagnoses
can be made in the absence of effective communication. This page gives access
to my elicitations of disease and medical conditions names in various African
languages.
