The Colima Nayarit area, also known as Jalisco, is around the present capital of the State, Guadalajara. This region is best known for the tumbas de tiro, or shaft-grave culture. Burials contained very large numbers of ceramic items. Many of these were looted before they could be properly excavated, hence the uncertain provenance of many museum specimens.
