Early postcards from Southeast Asia
These page allows
you to see early postcards, mostly chosen for ethnographic content, kindly
curated by a colleague. Postcards are not always supplied with captions
especially in the early period, and some I have simply had to guess. Any
corrections are welcome. Currently only Africa and Asia are presented, but
future pages will encompass other parts of the world. NB some names are anachronistic,
such as Myanmar, but it is easier to find them. Việt Nam was known as Annam
at this period. The Andamans are politically part of India, but culturally SE
Asian. Indonesia leads you a page of Indonesian islands.
