and there appear to be many monoglot elder speakers.
m Clearly there was formerly extensive use
of Kanuri and Fulfulde
as second languages, but these have largely disappeared, leaving only a residue of
loanwords. Hausa and English
are the main second languages today.
m Although the Kamwe languages appear to
be the closest relatives
of Kirya-Konzǝl, the people identify with the Fali groups, including some unknown languages
such as Mukta
m Oral traditions appear to date their
chieftaincies to the early 1800s, and suggest a migration westward from the
mountains in Cameroun
